Governor's Advisory Council on Aging

In March of 2023, our Executive Director was asked to meet with our state’s Governor’s Advisory Council on Aging members. As a result of this first meeting, he was asked to present to their larger membership.

Before meeting with the larger membership of this group, we met with some of our local collaborative partners that we know work daily with our local senior population. We consulted with staff of Second Harvest Food Bank, Senior Resources of Guilford, West End Ministries, Mobile Meals of High Point, and city staff within our local Community Development Office. We met with them to discuss some of the more pressing issues within our senior community.

Our Executive Director created a presentation and policy recommendations based on the feedback from these consultations with community partners. The presentation was then shared with the Governor’s Advisory Council on Aging.

As a result of his presentation, the Governor’s Advisory Council made recommendations to the Governor’s office.

The Governor’s office has already acted upon one of the recommendations.
